There’s nothing quite like lounging by the fire on a cold, wintry night. Every fireplace has the potential to become a focal point of the home, especially with a well-designed finishing touch. If your fireplace could use a touch of old-world style and sophistication, there is a picture-perfect solution to be found at Laurel Crown. Our mahogany fireplace surround is a faithful reproduction of the traditional fireplace surrounds that were made from 1714 to 1830, when the British Empire was ruled by Hanoverian kings George I, George II, George III, and George IV.
Furnishings from the Georgian era were defined by delicacy, elegance, and fine proportions. Each Georgian fireplace surround we reproduce is made of plantation-grown Honduran mahogany, which was the preferred wood for furnishings made throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. South American mahogany is revered for its dimensional stability and excellent workability as well as its pleasing straight grain and a lovely brown hue that tends to darken over time. To further accentuate the majesty of our mahogany fireplace surround, we added a stunning satin semi-gloss finish.
Our Georgian fireplace surround is an heirloom worth treasuring for a lifetime:
- Each hand-carved mantel has a 48"" x 48"" firebox opening
- Arresting architectural detail topped by a scrolled crown molding
- Complete your fireplace surround with one of our hand-carved mirrors
