The enduring style of the classic Chippendale style has been a furniture collector’s favorite for more than 200 years. Laurel Crown has worked diligently to recreate the original style of mahogany display cabinet that was designed by Thomas Chippendale himself. Our peerless Chippendale display cabinet has been carved, sanded, and finished by hand to ensure that your antique reproduction is authentic and exceeds all expectations.
Our specialty reproduction method involves careful consideration of premium woods that were used to construct the original style of Chippendale furniture. We favor Honduran mahogany, as did the furniture makers that preceded us. Mahogany features a unique grain pattern and medium texture. While it is not as brittle as soft pine, it is more flexible than hard oak. We accentuated the swirling grain pattern with a stunning satin semi-gloss finish to help it shine.
Each highboy china cabinet we build features incredible detail:
- Carved bonnet top with acanthus leaves
- Two flame finials for a sophisticated effect
- Short cabriole legs that terminate to ball-and-claw feet
- Gothic detailing along the upper molding
With love and care, your Chippendale display cabinet will stand up to normal wear and tear for generations to come, making it the perfect solution for families who like to pass on heirlooms. You can also expect the reddish-brown hue of your highboy china cabinet to darken over time. Our highboy china cabinet is also eligible for customization. If you would like an antiqued, washed, or distressed finish instead, let our custom design department know. Better yet, we can add a custom stain to match other wood tones.
